(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In his speech, Ali Mousavi Garmarudi, poet, called on poets to shun blowing Imam Ali's character and personality up out of all proportion in their compositions.
The chief guests of the convention were Hujatoleslam Mohammad Reza Zaei (secretary of the conference), Mohsen Momeni Sharif (head of the Howzeh Honari), Naser Zarabi (secretary of the Vigilance Literature office of the Howzeh Honari), Habib Ilbeigi (general manager of public relations and international affairs office of the Howzeh Honari), prominent poets and literary critics Ali Mousavi Garmaroudi and Mohammad Ali Mojahedi, and a number of literature lovers and poets.
At the beginning of the conference and following recitation of the holy Quran and the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Zaeri delivered a speech on the Ghadir al-Khumm (pond of Khumm) as the greatest Shia eve. He called the eve a rain of divine bounties that can be enjoyed by everyone in accordance with their understanding and knowledge.
He said a book has been published on the first edition of the conference in which the guests are introduced. "The conference is an opportunity for understanding Ghadir as a sea of bounties," he added.
Later in the gathering, Georgi Tarbai from Lebanon, Ahmad Altavili from Tunisia, Sohrab Sirat from Afghanistan and Sahar Anvar from Pakistan recited their poetry pieces on Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
In his address, Mousavi Garmarudi called on religious poets not to resort to hyperbole in their compositions and remarked Nahjolbalagheh as the best resource for learning about Imam Ali's personality and thoughts.
He said Allemeh Amini is one of the best devotees of Imam Ali for his book Alghadir. However, he is still neglected and cultural officials should think up plans to hold international conferences for revering him. "I can guarantee that most of the guests in the present conference have learned about the Ghadir AlKhumm phenomenon through Allmeh Amini's book. The book enjoys supreme literary value and should be revered for its literary weight as well," he added.
Garmarudi concluded his speech be reading some of his compositions about Imam Ali to the audience.
After Garmarudi, Mahmud Alam from India, Abdolghader Yousof Tazeini from Lebanon, Benjamin Doroqvar from Turkey, and Gubind Parsar from India recited their pieces.
